| Present leader of
Joniškis Culture House Children and Youth Theatre
– Arvydas Butkus started to work with group of pupils and
senior youth in 1984. Theatre status and name "Bendraamžiai" ("The contemporaries") was given in 1986. Theatre has become popular not only in Lithuania but also abroad, takes part in various national competitions and festivals, has gained prizes. "Bendraamžiai" was recognized as the best children theatre in the Lithuania and got a reward "The Golden Bird" . It is honour, appreciation and rating mark . Performances were shown on national television not once. ............................... |

tour in Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Denmark: The play "Pasėjo senelis avižas mėnesienoj" ("Grandfather has sown the field with oats in the moonlight"),1992-1995. |

| Some
performances are rehearsed, working with preparative group (stage
movement, speech etc), traditional events is happening: the acquaintance evening, St. Valentine’s day, christening, parting feast. |
| Theatre
organizes international children and youth festival
"Stage of
contemporaries" every two years and initiates creative camps. ............................... 10 plays are produced in the theatre, the dramaturgy was born in it too. |

"Bendraamžiai" - the theatre of the new generation. Therefore, the main theme uniting all stage works is collision between young people and the world surrounding them. The principal purpose of the theatre is to foster young people's creativity and love, to develop their need for cultural and emotional life. |
